What is Scotland's Colleges International?

Scotland's Colleges International (SCI) works on behalf of all of Scotland's colleges linking with international partners and working in international markets. SCI is a one stop shop providing access to member colleges across Scotland in order to maximise provision of high quality services delivered internationally.

SCI brings together the expertise experience and resources of Scotland's colleges, over 30 of Scotland's top colleges have come together to work internationally providing our partners and clients with access to the coherence and quality of Scotland's post school education system.

In Scotland we work from over 200 different sites and employ over 15,000 staff. At present we are active in over 30 different countries and, at home in Scotland we enrol over 300,000 students each year.

Clients and partners can work with us with confidence.

Why has it been established?

The SCI initiative started in 2005 and the formal launch took place in June 2006 at the Association of Scotland's Colleges Annual Conference in Aviemore, Scotland. An Action Group composed of college principals leads the initiative with an advisory council drawn from across the member colleges helping to set the strategy.

The purpose of establishing SCI is to provide focus, capability, clarity, coherence, credibility capacity and quality to enable Scotland's colleges to expand, develop and promote their international activity with a view to:

  • delivering benefit to the individuals, companies and countries with whom SCI works;
  • generating new and additional business streams for colleges;
  • contributing to the internationalisation of colleges and the college sector in Scotland.
